Running Wild - Death or Glory
Review by Igtenos
Running Wild were one of the original power metal bands of Germany, and
with their 1987 release titled Under Jolly Roger they began the whole pirate
theme they've stuck with for awhile. Death or Glory is their third album under
the theme, and is a great starting point for the band.
Starting the two-minute instrumental intro of Riding the Storm to the actual
song portion of it (it's somewhat of a long track) this first song should be
enough to buy this CD. Fast power metal riffs, a neat lead guitar line,
very nice bass work, and the catchy vocal melodies hook you up. Other
songs like Renegade, The Battle of Waterloo, the title track (best on the
album), and bonus track March On add to it as well.
They've made a slight mistake of following the AC/DC philosophy of releasing a
lot of songs that sound the same, but there are still a lot of standouts on this
compared to their other releases. Not a bad CD at all.
