Movie Soundtrack - The Scorpion King
Review by vanilla coek
I remember watching the Scorpion King when it came out in theaters. I
wasn't expecting much from it, but the film was surprisingly good. I also
remember Godsmack's 'I Stand Alone' song coming out at the same time to help
promote the film. I liked the song at the time, so I went out and got the
Scorpion King soundtrack. After giving it a re-listen now, I have to come to
realize that the soundtrack was quite awful.
The Scorpion King soundtrack, like a lot of modern action flicks, is a
collection of mostly boring nu-metal tracks. However, most of these tracks are
B-sides. That's cool and all, but it would be nice if the songs chosen were
actually good'
Scratch that, not all of the songs are bad. System of a Down's 'Streamline' is
one of the band's best, and 'Corrected' by Sevendust and 'Iron Head' by Rob
Zombie and Ozzy Osbourne are decent. Unfortunately, other than that the album
is pure filth.
You've got generic, nu-metal bullshit tracks from Godsmack, P.O.D., Drowning
Pool, Creed, Hoobastank, Nickelback, Flaw, 12 Stones, Mushroomhead, Lifer,
Injected, Breaking Point, and Coal Chamber. Quite the impressive list, eh?
Bah'
This album is a waste of money, blah blah blah. I suppose if you dig this sort
of music, you'll enjoy the soundtrack. Otherwise you'll probably despise it
like me. Watch the movie, but stay away from this poor excuse of a
soundtrack...
